Gnumeric 1.9.1 is the latest version but it is sad that we have only 1.8.3 at the portage tree. This is not the problem to compile it out of emerge or eix but it would be great to add gnumeric 1.9.1.

gnumeric development releases are potentially VERY buggy. I use them and contribute bugreports, but one would be very displeased to use development versions on important data and find corruption unexpectedly... ;-)

Apart from that, I find new features desirable enough to outweight the bugs I encounter.

gnumeric-1.6.3 is a March 2006 version, and gnumeric-1.7.13 is released on October 2007. I'm wondering why the devels refuse to update the ebuilds in the Portage tree.. Check the related bugs for up-to-date ebuilds.
